LYLULS

LYLULS Mentoring Group
The LyLuLs (Luv Yourself Like U Luv Shoes) Mentoring Group was started 2 years ago as a event for young ladies ages 14-18 at my shoe boutique called, The Shoe Lounge (A place to rest your Soles). The event was a way to provide the girls with a safe shopping environment instead of being drop off at the mall without supervision. After the girl’s response to the first event, I decided to host the event once a month, adding more substance in which to develop a Mentoring platform. It would include building their self-esteem, by inviting successful women and teens to come and speak, part-time employment opportunities, fashion tips, and credit if they were in the ROP program at school. The Art Institute of Riverside’s Fashion Club and ROP at Bloomington High School, have partnered with me to make this project a success. A total of 7 boys and 10 girls have benefitted from this project.
My mission is to partner High School Girls with high
quality mentoring relationships for one year. My goal is to develop a Nonprofit Platform to assist the Mentors in the development of the Five Core Values of Success; Self Esteem, Etiquette, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Men & Manners. Our motto is, Stepping up to help others to Step out into Success.
